The DLG Encounter & Exchange

Are you interested in finding out more about someone else's practice, or how they run their organisation?

Introducing, a match-making programme of information sharing across the DLG network!

The Dance Leaders Group is a network of brilliant, skilled people and we want to make the most of the knowledge we hold, working collaboratively to improve our dance sector. Through the Encounter & Exchange, we want to enable a region-wide exchange of learning, experience and practice of working inclusively in dance.

WHAT’S INVOLVED

Based on your expression of interest, you will be paired with a partner with an experience that you can learn from, for example, from a different part of the region, working in a different dance style and/or in a different organisational context. We invite you to connect with and visit your Encounter & Exchange partner for approximately half a day, exploring some pre-agreed themes as well as following the flow of your respective interests. We ask you to document your meeting at the time, reflect on your encounter and capture your learning in a few sentences afterwards.

There is a bursary of up to £300 per participant to cover expenses and a contribution to your time, for a limited number of participants. We hope that those of you who already receive a salary will participate as part of your paid role, to enable the limited budget to support as many independents as possible.

Expression of Interest

Deadline to sign up: 4pm Monday 25 November 2024

To take part, you will be committing to approximately 1-2 days of your time over a 3-month period which will include:

Making contact with your Encounter and Exchange partner and arrange a date to meet / visit between January – March 2025.
Have at least one in-person meeting x 0.5 day, where you'll explore a set of pre-determined questions as well as your own
Document your meeting (format flexible) and share eg. a photo and short message on social media
Reflect on your encounter and capture any learning
Attend the Spring Summit on Weds 2 April to share your experience and learning

TIMELINE

Deadline to sign up: 4pm Monday 25 November 2024
Matchmaking decision: w/c 9 December 2024
Expectation of delivery: 1 day between January – March 2025
Final documentation submission: Monday 24 March 2025
Final Report of the programme: Wednesday 2 April 2025 (DLG Spring Summit)
